e-myth stands for entrepreneur Myth. The author says that it is a myth that small businesses are started by entrepreneurs. Instead he says they are started by technicians who are bitten by the "entrepreneur bug" for a moment. They start businesses and then work in the business instead of on the business. As a result they often end up with jobs that they dislike even more than their previous positions.

This book contains a plan for starting a business by concentrating on making a system that works instead of just creating another job for yourself. It is written as a dialog with a small business person. I didn't find the dialog format to be particularly appealing, but the content of the book was well worth the read.

For someone who doesn't intend to start a business much of the information is applicable to building a strong department in an existing company.

The concept is the most important thing ...

As the Chairman of the world's largest Business Coaching company I have given away more than 10,000 copies of this book and probably influenced thousands more to buy it.

Here's why ...

Gerber, hit's the nail on the head with one simple concept that it's a struggle for most business owners to truly understand.

The reason you work so hard is that your business doesn't work.

Understanding that principle alone in the way Gerber makes it simple for you to grasp is extremely powerful for any and every business owner.

Yes, some of the thoughts on a systems dependant business are a little 'idealistic' when it comes to the day to day running of a business, but I believe you will get far more than your money's worth by just understanding the basic premise of the book. Read it.

An inspiring and logic read
I really enjoyed reading this book, after being given advice by many to read including my E-Myth coach. I am in the process of starting a business and this book will prepare me well for my business to be successful, instead of 'blindly' stepping into a world of competition. A must for anyone whose ever had an 'entreprenurial
